Course Description:
This course introduces the concept of dermoneuromodulating as a means of “hacking” the nervous system by persuading it to “reboot”. Diane Jacobs reviews brain and spinal cord evolution and how it relates to a pain experience. Participants will gain a better understanding of neural pathways, how they might be harmed by mechanical deformation and “hacked” with therapeutic touch. Upon completing this course, anyone with a license to touch people who treats patients in pain will have a roadmap for setting up a successful “hack” to resolve pain problems.
Course Objectives
Can manual therapy "hack" the nervous system and change a patient's pain experience?
In this course, participants will explore answers to the following questions:
- How can I deal with a new patient in pain?
- How did the nervous system evolve to what it is today?
- What is tunnel syndrome, and how does mechanical deformation impact nerves?
- What are the non-specific effects of manual therapy?
- What is "descending modulation"?
