Overview

What changes in your practice when you treat sensation as a guide rather than something to brace against? From Bodily Knowledge to Intuitive Movement (FBKTIM) is a live series with physical therapist and yoga therapist Sherry Brourman, PT, C-IAYT, built chapter by chapter from her book, From Bodily Knowledge to Intuitive Movement: Where Physical Therapy, Yoga Therapy, and Pain Science Meet. Research assistant Gina Shelton, C-IAYT, moderates each session.

The series starts with a free introduction, then moves through six monthly chapter sessions: from the psychosocial influences on movement, through pain science, movement mechanics, and gait, toward movement guided from within.

Series Schedule

All sessions run live at 2:30 PM Eastern Time.

  • Free Introduction: Friday, October 2, 2026 → Registration page here
  • Chapter 1: The Psycho-Social Dynamics of Movement: November 6, 2026
  • Chapter 2: A Pain Exploration: December 4, 2026
  • Chapter 3: The Foundation of Movement within Yoga Posture Practice: January 8, 2027
  • Chapter 4: Gait as Template: February 5, 2027
  • Chapter 5: Seeing Bodies: And the Parts Interact to Become a Whole: March 5, 2027
  • Chapter 6: The Inner Sense of Movement: April 2, 2027

Audience

This series is for physical therapists, occupational therapists, yoga therapists, and movement educators who want a wider lens on how movement is shaped and sustained. It is especially relevant if you work with persistent pain or want practical ways to help patients become active participants in their own recovery. No prior yoga therapy training is needed.

Why This Series Matters

Movement sits at the heart of rehab, yet much of what shapes it lives outside the musculoskeletal system. FBKTIM brings physical therapy's "whole body" view together with yoga therapy's "whole person" view, giving you a framework for observing movement without letting anatomy dictate the whole story. The free introduction is an easy way to see whether the full series fits your practice.

The instructors
Sherry Brourman
PT, C-IAYT
Sherry Brourman, PT, C-IAYT has been a physical therapist for more than 50 years and a yoga therapist for nearly three decades. She is the author of From Bodily Knowledge to Intuitive Movement: Where Physical Therapy, Yoga Therapy, and Pain Science Meet, a book that reflects her lifelong passion for integrating movement science, whole-person care, and clinical curiosity. Through her teaching, writing, and private practice, Sherry encourages clinicians, movement professionals, and individuals to develop greater bodily awareness, thoughtful observation, and confidence in supporting each person's unique movement journey. Her work emphasizes helping people become active participants in their own healing through individualized exploration rather than one-size-fits-all solutions. She remains, first and foremost, a lifelong student of movement, continually learning from her patients, students, colleagues, and teachers.
