This presentation will discuss the etiology, prevention and treatment of anterior cruciate ligament injuries of the knee. Recent evidence will be summarized in ways that can be immediately integrated into clinical practice.

 

Objectives:

At the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the current evidence relevant to the etiology, prevention and treatment of ACL injuries
  • Assess for biomechanical risk factors for ACL injuries and re-injuries
  • Apply the current evidence on ACL injury etiology and prevention in clinical practice and on the athletic field

Speaker Bio: 

Evangelos Pappas is currently a Professor and Associate Dean (intoHealth) at the University of Wollongong, Australia working on the university’s developing Health and Wellbeing Precinct. He has previously held positions at the Discipline of Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney and Long Island University-Brooklyn. 

His research has focused on utilizing biomechanical, epidemiological and clinical methodology to investigate the etiology, prevention and treatment of anterior cruciate ligament injuries of the knee. He has published >120 peer-reviewed articles and his work has been funded by government agencies and private foundations. He has been interviewed on radio and in newspaper articles about sports injury prevention.
