Overview

Evidence suggests that pelvic floor function can depend on and be influenced by a variety of psychophysiological factors. Currently, the gold standard for treatment of incontinence is pelvic floor muscle training, which can include pelvic floor relaxation, breathing practices and patient education. But are there any missing links or gaps in the research to consider? Can we (and should we?) do better to improve patient outcomes? If so, is it within your scope of practice to consider all aspects of the person? How can we discern which aspects are relevant to the person’s incontinence?

In this on-demand course, we will address these above questions and more.

We will explore:

  • Biopsychosocial-spiritual factors that can influence pelvic floor function within the context of incontinence
  • The value and practicalities of addressing the whole-person for incontinence care in the clinical setting
  • Potential barriers to providing whole-person care and discuss practical and accessible tips to address some of these barriers
  • A guided experiential practice that can be safely and effectively used immediately in the clinical setting to optimize the incontinence care you provide your clients.

As rehab professionals, we are in an ideal position to use a whole-person approach to help people with incontinence.

Join Shelly for this 2-hour introductory course to discover the therapeutic potential of a whole-person approach in helping people with incontinence. Gain key insights and tips surrounding practical clinical applications for optimizing patient outcomes.
