Train the Trainer Part 2 - Create your Course on Embodia
Embodia offers a transcription service which results in the ability to add closed captions to your course in pretty much any language. The most time consuming part of the process is editing the English transcript. Once it is edited we can use our video server to generate closed captions in any language of your choice. We did this with Diane Jacobs course here (go to the course materials and watch the free preview lesson - click on the CC on the bottom right of the screen).
Here's the information about the transcription service we provide.
Option 1:
- Transcripts will be generated and made available to you without someone checking over the transcripts to make corrections.
- You (or someone of your choosing) will be able to edit the transcript on Embodia or our video server. This makes it easy to watch the video and read the transcript.
- The transcripts should be approximately 95% accurate if the sound/audio in the video is good
- Currency: If your course is listed in USD on Embodia, you will be charged in USD. If your course is listed in CAD on Embodia, you will be charged in CAD.
- Cost of service: $20 USD per course hour or the equivalent in CAD based on the current exchange rate
- Payment of service: there are two options - (1) Pay up front; (2) Content Creation Fund - the cost of the transcription will be added to your course and will be paid back by the sales of your course.
Option 2:
- Transcripts will be generated and a healthcare professional or student in a healthcare professional program will review the transcripts to ensure 100% accuracy
- Closed captions can be made available afterwards on your course on Embodia to increase accessibility
- Transcripts are generated based on the language of the audio/video. It is possible for us to generate transcripts in other languages. Once the transcripts are generated in the second language, it will provided to you without further review.
- Currency: If your course is listed in USD on Embodia, you will be charged in USD. If your course is listed in CAD on Embodia, you will be charged in CAD.
- Cost of service: $70USD per course hour (20USD for the transcription + 2.5 hours of editing at USD20/hour) or the equivalent in CAD based on the current exchange rate
- Payment of service: there are two options - (1) Pay up front; (2) Content Creation Fund - the cost of the transcription will be added to your course and will be paid back by the sales of your course.
With both Options 1 and 2, you will receive:
- SRTs in English (SRT files are usually what's needed for the closed captions.)
- Text files with full English transcript (1 file for each video)
- We can also provide text files in any major language. It will be computer generated, and not validated.
